VINYLSTUDIO WITH LINE IN CABLE MANUAL
If you can swing $200 for a manual vac-RCM, do it. I used the Spin Clean for a few years before I upgraded to a vac-RCM. It's a last resort cleaning method anyway and I found it more trouble than it was worth. RE: wood glue, I've tried it and don't recommend it.

It has to do with the cheapo motors Pro-Ject uses, and the motor mount design that uses rubber bands. He even changed out his system components and moved to another place and I don't think he ever got rid of it. A friend has one and the motor noise was very noticeable to both of us. A lot of people use Audacity instead which is a free the hum and motor noise issues have definitely not been fixed. The trial is free so worth checking out to see if you like it. I've also used Vinyl Studio, pretty convenient and not terribly expensive. They did sound very good, but so did needledrops using the same system with a cheaper Audio Interface and software based RIAA equalization (rather than letting the phono preamp do the work). No need to buy an entirely new one unless something is wrong with yours.įWIW, I have heard needledrops made using the PS Audio unit referenced above. That would would mean a Spin Clean bare minimum, and preferably some type of vac-based if you already have a turntable you just need the ADC/Audio Interface.

Make sure the records are clean if you want to go through the trouble of making needledrops.

The 2M Red is also a very poor cartridge IMHO.įor the same money I would buy a good vintage TT, spend $200-300 on an ADC/Audio Interface, and the best cartridge you can afford. It has all the same problems the regular debut carbon has.
